Company History

Johns & Company, founded by Corydon T. Johns in 1946, began as a one-man operation based in Tampa, Florida. Shortly thereafter in 1947, Donald L. Johns joined his brother Corydon and established the second office of Johns & Company in Sarasota, Florida.

Johns & Company spread throughout Florida by expanding its geographical coverage. This was accomplished by opening new offices in adjacent cities, all operating under Johns & Company, a partnership. Following incorporation on January 1, 1966, the firm became Johns & Company, Insurance Adjusters, Inc.

Come January, 1971, Johns & Company purchased Eastern Adjustment Company, Inc., which had been servicing the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States as a respected independent adjusting firm for twenty years. This acquisition gave Johns & Company access to markets outside Florida, and led to the corporate name we now know, Johns Eastern Company, Inc.

Johns Eastern

We introduced our claims administration services to the self-insured community in 1975. Spring of 1977 saw another acquisition of a thirty-year old firm, J.E. Neblett Adjusters, Inc., of Tampa, Florida.

1980 saw the entrance of Johns Eastern Company, Inc. into the major market of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and 1981 the purchase of McGrew Claim Service added Cincinnati and Dayton to our Ohio operations.

The following decades brought continued growth in our Independent Adjusting and Third Party Administration services. In 1999, we completed construction of our world headquarters in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. This office has served as the center of operations for our TPA and IA services as well as our Catastrophe services. The location and design allowed us to play an integral role providing critical claims services during the hurricanes of 2004 while maintaining, uninterrupted, the high quality of our TPA services.
