Six
Decades of Service
Corydon T. Johns founded Johns & Company in 1946. A year later,
the one-man, Tampa-based operation doubled in size when brother Donald
L. Johns helped Corydon establish a second office in Sarasota, Florida.
The company’s growth continued throughout Florida when new offices
opened in adjacent cities. The partnership became incorporated in
1966 as Johns & Company Insurance Adjusters, Inc.
In January 1971, the firm purchased Eastern Adjustment Company, an
independent adjustment firm that serviced the Mid-Atlantic region
for the previous 20 years. With access to markets outside of Florida,
the corporation became Johns Eastern Company, Inc.
In 1977, J. E. Neblett Adjusters, Inc. of Tampa joined the Johns Eastern
network. Three years later, Johns Eastern entered Philadelphia; and
in 1986, it established an office in Norfolk to service the Tidewater,
Virginia area. In 1996, an office was opened in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The Florida offices make up the company’s Southern region; while
all others comprise Johns Eastern’s Northern region.
Johns Eastern celebrated its 60th anniversary on July 26, 2006.
