KENNETH
M. JOHNS, III, CPCU, ARM, AIM
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
A graduate of Cornell University with a BA in History, Kenneth
Johns joined the company on July 1, 1965. After serving four
years in the Air Force, where he attained the rank of Captain,
he rejoined the company in February 1970. His experience includes
extensive services as a field adjuster, branch manager, and
corporate officer.
Mr. Johns received his CPCU designation and holds the designations
of Associate in Risk Management and Associate in Management
from the Insurance Institute of America. He is chief executive
officer of both Johns Eastern Company Inc. and JECO Excess Agency
Inc.
He holds licenses as an all-lines claims adjuster, a general
lines agent, a surplus lines agent, and a hospital risk manager.
Mr. Johns is active with his corporate responsibilities and
within the industry. He has been through the chairs and served
as president of the Suncoast Chapter of the CPCU; and has been
chairman and secretary of the claims interest section of the
National Society of CPCU. For six years he served on the board
of directors of the Florida Association of Self Insurance. He
has chaired the publication committee of the National Association
of Independent Insurance Adjusters, and has been a member of
its constitution and bylaws committee. |

DONALD E.
LEDERER, CPCU, AIC, AIM, ARM
PRESIDENT
A graduate of Western Maryland College with a degree in Economics,
Don Lederer joined Johns Eastern in 1984 as an adjuster. While
an adjuster in our Washington, D.C. office, he gained experience
handling all lines of claims, specializing in general liability,
automobile, and property.
In
September 1986, Mr. Lederer was transferred to Virginia to
help open our Norfolk location. He was then promoted to branch
manager on January 1, 1988. While managing the Norfolk location,
he supervised and handled claims in professional liability,
commercial auto, property, and workers’ compensation.
On
June 1, 1989, Mr. Lederer transferred to our Washington, D.C.,
location as branch manager. While there, he handled medical
malpractice claims for a local group of hospitals. He also
directed the development of the company’s mobile adjuster
concept. This led to opening the northern Virginia satellite
location.
On
December 1, 1997, Mr. Lederer was promoted to regional manager
and to vice president of the northern region in 2000. His
responsibilities included supervising our Pennsylvania, Maryland,
Washington, D.C., Virginia, and North Carolina offices.
On November 1, 2004, Mr. Lederer was promoted to executive
vice president. He is involved with the oversight of the company’s
three major areas of operations: branch operations, third-party
administration – self-insured accounts, and catastrophe
claims services.
Mr. Lederer
earned his Associate in Claims (AIC) designation in February
1991. He earned his Associate in Management (AIM) designation
in February 1990. The CPCU designation was earned in 2005. |

PHILIP
SHIELDS
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT – BRANCH OPERATIONS
Philip Shields graduated from the University of Baltimore with
a BS degree in business management. Following his graduation,
he joined Johns Eastern in early 1971 as an adjuster trainee
and has been with the company for 35 years.
Mr. Shields initially worked as an adjuster
in the Baltimore branch office and trained under company founder
Corydon T. Johns. He then went to Florida, where he managed
offices in Lakeland, Clearwater, and West Palm Beach. He then
managed our office in Washington, D.C., prior to becoming
regional manager of northern operations in 1989. He was promoted
to vice president on January 1, 1990. Mr. Shields is presently
Executive Vice President and oversees Branch Operations.
Mr.
Shields is currently working toward the completion of his
CPCU designation through the Insurance Institute of America.
He has
extensive experience in both property and casualty claims
handling. He also specialized in heavy casualty work and has
been involved in supervising and handling medical malpractice
claims. He has coordinated storm teams for catastrophe offices
in Florida and North Carolina.
Mr. Shields
worked with Corydon Johns, teaching statement seminars for
various insurance companies throughout the United States.
He has been a member of the Tampa Interbay Rotary Club since
August 1993. |

BEVERLY
ADKINS, AIM, AIC
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT – TPA ACCOUNT SERVICES
Ms. Adkins
serves as Executive Vice President. She joined
Johns Eastern Company in 1986 after graduating from the University
of South Florida. She has served in various branch offices,
including Tampa, Clearwater, and Jacksonville, Florida. Ms.
Adkins was promoted to Claims Manager of the Orlando Branch
in 1990 and Executive Director of Centralized Claims in Sarasota,
Florida in 2001. She was promoted to Vice President of Special
Account Services in July, 2004.
Ms. Adkins
is licensed as an adjuster in Florida. She earned her Associate
in Claims Designation in 1989 and her Associate in Management
in 1993. She is presently working on her CPCU designation.
Ms. Adkins has experience handling all lines, including Workers’
Compensation, General Liability, Automobile Liability, Errors
& Omissions, Homeowners, and Commercial Property claims.
Ms. Adkins
is a member of the Bradenton/Sarasota Claims Association,
the Association of Workers’ Compensation Claims Professionals
and an Associate Member of the Independent Insurance Agents,
the Risk and Insurance Management Society, and the Public
Risk and Insurance Management Association. |

BRIAN
HARLOW, CPCU, AIC, AIM
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT - CATASTROPHE & SPECIAL INSURANCE COMPANY SERVICES/OVERSEES MARKETING
Mr. Harlow has been with Johns Eastern Company, Inc. since
1986. He is a graduate of the University of South Florida
in Tampa, Florida with a B.A. Degree in Criminal Justice.
Mr. Harlow has gained experience in our Lakeland and Sarasota
offices before being promoted to Branch Manager in 1990 of
our Ft Lauderdale office. In 1992, Mr. Harlow became Branch
Manager in our Miami office and held that position until 1998
when he was promoted to Assistant Regional Manager. In 2003
he was promoted to Regional Manager. In January 2005, Mr.
Harlow was promoted to Vice President and serves as our Catastrophe
Director.
Mr. Harlow
played an integral role in our management team overseeing
claims as a result of Hurricane Charley, Hurricane Frances,
Hurricane Ivan and Hurricane Jeanne in 2004. He was also a
member of our catastrophe teams that handled Hurricane Georges
claims in Mississippi and Hurricane Floyd claims in North
Carolina, as well as Hurricane Andrew and Hurricane Irene
in Miami.
His casualty
experience includes previously supervising all of the losses
for Browning Ferris Industries (BFI) in Dade, Broward and
Monroe counties. In addition, he managed a large Restaurant
Program underwritten by Lloyds of London.
Mr. Harlow
is also responsible for marketing our London business and
has been visiting London since 1994.
Mr. Harlow
has achieved his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters,
Associate in Claims and Associate in Management designations.

NORMAN
A. SENSINGER
VICE PRESIDENT
Norman Sensinger graduated from Lafayette College, Easton,
Pennsylvania, in 1959 with a BS in business administration.
He attended Temple University School of Law in Philadelphia
from 1961 to 1963. He began his career with Crawford &
Company in 1959, working in its Norfolk, Virginia, and Philadelphia
branch offices. He joined Eastern Adjustment Company in 1963,
managing its Philadelphia branch office, as well as being
regional manager and vice president of the corporation. He
continued in that capacity after Eastern Adjustment was acquired
by Johns Eastern in 1971.
He has worked in client development in both the USA and London
since 1989, prior to which he served as regional manager in
the northern region of the company.

STUART
E. BAYER, CPA
SECRETARY/TREASURER
Stuart Bayer graduated from the University of Western Ontario
in 1990 with a BS in chemistry. He then completed his accounting
studies at McGill University. While there, he worked as an auditor
for the accounting firm of Ernst & Young.
In 1993, Mr. Bayer moved to Florida and began working at Arthur
& Swearingen after obtaining his CPA certification. While
there, he performed audits, and prepared individual, corporate,
and trust tax returns.
In 1997, Mr. Bayer joined Johns Eastern as controller. He subsequently
completed his Florida CPA license requirements. In 2002, he
was elected secretary/treasurer. Mr. Bayer is a member of the
American Institute of CPAs and the Florida Institute of CPAs.
Mr. Bayer also has extensive experience in handling a wide variety of our business interruption claims.
